El.K.B. slips on some sandals...

As I've recently arrived at my new summer locale, on the French Riviera, I figured it was time for El.K.B. to let the sun shine in on the blog with a new summer look!

I'm no fashion expert but I personally believe the French truely know how to pull off the classic sophistication of long lasting style. Many garments range in "colour" from light grey to medium to black and, more often than not, are paired with little more than an elegant string of pearls (thank you Coco Chanel!), maybe a silk scarf and you're all set to go!

This, however, differs drastically from the colours and textures of the historical buildings. Colourful splashes ring out down the tiny alleyways of the French villages with equally vibrant chipping shutters on each of the windows. I fell instantly in love with the colours of historical French architecture. I had to share this vibrancy with you on my new summer blog design since the majority of the summer (now until early August) will be spent wandering France.

PS. Sabotaged by Auto Correct

There is nothing like writing a blog on travel and having the auto correct change a name to be spelt like a giant mammal instead of a country. For those of you who thought I had visited a large ocean dweller over the last month, as amazing as that would have been, I have deceived you... my apologies!

See the corrections to "Rubble in Caldicot" below.

Much Love,

A Flight of Imagination & Strength

Recently taking a trip to London and Paris, there was no question that I saw an immense amount of well planned, crafted and thought provoking creative masterpieces. I wandered the halls of the Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Louvre and more.... all of which housing the worlds most prized artistic accomplishments. Some of the best creative achievements are trapped within the walls of a gallery...but then....

Conceptualized and organized by Gitta Gschwendtner, this outdoor installation applied poems written by young refugees vocalizing thoughts of strength and imagination. The paper planes then symbolize their words, thoughts, and battles taking flight into a world new to them....so beautiful and brilliant.

Some of the best works of art are best interpreted outside....

PS. This piece can be seen at London's Southbank Centre as part of the Festival of Britian exhibition. See also the 30' (I'm gues-timating) straw Fox! Here's a sneak peak...so cool!

Rubble at Caldicot

Welsh Flag on Caldicot Castle; Caldicot, Wales; Photo By El. K B.

Crumbling castles have to be some of the more romantic places in the world... I recently visited Caldicot Castle in Wales which oozes history from each of it's chipping stones. My mind couldn't help but leap instantly into elaborate stories of romance, treason, scandal...

The views of the Welsh country side weren't so bad either.... pretty stunning actually.
